In the heart of Kampala, Uganda, Daniel Atenyi’s solo exhibition, “A Break in Continuity,” transformed Latitude 0 into a realm of emotion and creativity. With charcoal, pastel, and coffee wash, Atenyi’s portraits spoke volumes, each stroke capturing the essence of human experience.

But the exhibition wasn’t just about the art on the walls; it was a symphony of expression. Accompanied by live performances, Atenyi’s interpretations of emotion came to life through spoken word and movement, weaving a tapestry of feeling that enveloped the audience.

Behind the scenes, Atenyi’s journey had been one of collaboration and exploration. Through the Vivid Synergies! program, he had delved deep into the human psyche alongside writer-in-residence, Matt Kayem. Together, they had peeled back the layers of emotion, drawing inspiration from their surroundings and each other.

As guests wandered through the gallery, they were transported into Atenyi’s world, where imperfection was perfection, and ambiguity danced with clarity. It was a celebration of human emotion in all its complexity, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the unseen forces that shape us all.
